Through a collaborative project with the City of Columbus Mayor's Office of Education, TECH CORPS Ohio and the Greater Columbus Chamber of Commerce, Columbus students are learning technology skills to enrich their learning and prepare them for future employment in the field of technology. City Student TECH CORPS is an innovative program funded be Franklin County Jobs and Family Services. This 16 week program provides computer instruction and employment soft skills training for close to 100 students ages 14 to 18. Student meet once a week for three hours after-school and use the Student TECH CORPS curriculum to learn comprehensive information technology skills, covering the basics of hardware, software, operating systems, networking, peripherals, and customer relations. City Student TECH CORPS is a collaborative project between the City of Columbus Mayor’s Office of Education and TECH CORPS Ohio. Using the Student TECH CORPS® Curriculum students have an opportunity to learn comprehensive Information Technology and soft skills during the school year. These technology skills can assist them in the classroom and also prepare them for future employment. During the summer, the students are placed in a ten-week summer internship that introduces them to the employment opportunities available in the field of technology. This project is funded by Franklin County Department of Jobs and Family Services.
