The 13th annual Blooms & Butterflies exhibition transforms the Conservatory’s Pacific Island Water Garden into an enchanting haven for butterflies amid a spectacular showcase of tropical foliage. Columbus artist Aminah Brenda Lynn Robinson has created a series of twenty rag paintings that are layered with meaning as well as fabrics and buttons given to the artist by friends and aquaintances from Columbus and places she has visited. The artist describes the series as "going back and forth in history" and including references to early Native-American and African inhabitants who populated the area hundreds of years ago as well as more recent nineteenth- and twentieth-century communities. Robinson is a 2004 recipient of the prestigious MacArthur award and was the subject of a major 2003 retrospective exhibition organized by the Columbus Museum of Art

In August, the OHRG will take a break from their own season to host the Women’s Flat Track Derby Association (WFTDA) Eastern Regional Tournament, at Battelle Hall in the Greater Columbus Convention Center. The OHRG travel team will be one of 12 teams from east of the Mississippi River invited to participate in this regional tournament. The top contenders will then go on to Austin, TX in September to compete for the national WFTDA championship. The tournament will take place Friday - Sunday, August 17 -19 and will feature powerhouses of the derby world such as the Minnesota Rollergirls (Minneapolis), the Carolina Rollergirls (Raleigh) and the Gotham Girls Roller Derby (New York). This is action flat-track fans won’t want to miss!

Single day tickets are $25, or order a weekend pass for just $50. Four full length bouts will take place each day.
